Looking to start a covey or add fresh genetics to your birds? My Coturnix quail hatching eggs come from proven breeding pens selected for strength, productivity, and steady temperaments.

Hatching eggs are available for local pickup only at Forget-Me-Not Quail Farm in Fryeburg, Maine. Orders are placed at the bottom of this page.

2026 Hatching Egg Pricing

  • Spring and Summer, April through September: $1.00 per egg
  • Winter Discount, October through March: $0.50 per egg

I don’t sell hatching eggs through the farm stand. Farm stand eggs are washed and refrigerated for eating. Fertile eggs for incubation need to be ordered here so I can set aside fresh, unwashed eggs from my breeding pens.

How Ordering Works

Choose your line and quantity from the product dropdown, then check out to place your order. If you’d like more than one line, add one to your cart, then return to this page and select another. A 25% deposit reserves your eggs, with the remaining balance due at pickup. I accept cash, Venmo, and Cash App for the remaining balance.

Pickup is by appointment at the farm. After checkout, I’ll email you to coordinate a pickup time.

Current Lead Time

Current lead time is usually about 10 days to fill hatching egg orders. Smaller orders may be ready sooner. Larger orders may take longer, especially during chick hatch season when egg demand is higher. I update availability every Thursday to give the best estimate of what should be available over the next 10 days.

Hatchery Choice eggs are usually the fastest option. These eggs are collected from across the hatchery at the end of the day and are not sorted or labeled by line. Your hatch will be a mix of what’s available at the time, which means the results are a surprise.

Our 2026 Coturnix Quail Lines

  • Andalusian: Andalusian is a gray dilution that can range from light silver tones to deeper charcoal. Birds have white wingtips and patches of their base color showing through. Because the gene sits on different color bases in this line, shade and pattern can vary quite a bit from bird to bird. I do not breed Andalusian to Andalusian, so about half the chicks are expected to show gray tones and the other half will be undiluted.
  • Sparkly Pansy Pearl: Sparkly Pansy Pearl is built on a Pearl base with added Sparkly barring and bold Pansy contrast. The goal is a high-pattern, high-contrast bird with a lot of visual interest. This line is still being refined, so some chicks may show Pearl or Pansy Fee variations, with or without Sparkly, as I continue selecting toward full expression.
  • Calico Collection: The Calico Collection has cream-to-yellow striations along the back, softer overall patterning, and reduced breast spotting on females. All birds in this collection are homozygous Calico, so every chick carries the full visible pattern.
  • Celadon Collection: The Celadon Collection includes a variety of feather colors, but every hen lays light blue celadon eggs ranging from pale blue to deeper robin’s-egg tones. All birds are homozygous for the Celadon gene, so blue egg color is consistent across the line.
  • True Black: True Black birds have deep, uniform black plumage that is darker than Tibetan, with very little white bleed-through as adults. This line breeds true and is a good fit if you want bold, consistent solid black birds.
  • Splash Collection: The Splash Collection is made up of mostly white birds with irregular patches of color. The exact patch color depends on the base color underneath. My Splash birds are homozygous and breed true, so that high-contrast patchy look is consistent in every hatch.

More detailed descriptions of each line are available on the Breeding Projects page.

Policies & What to Expect

All hatching egg sales are final. I can’t offer refunds or replacements for eggs that don’t hatch.

Hatch success depends on your setup, including incubator performance, temperature stability, humidity, egg handling, and storage. I provide fresh, fertile eggs from proven breeders, but once they leave my hands, hatch results depend on your equipment and management. Here on the farm, fertile eggs from my breeding pens average a 90–100% hatch rate. I’m always happy to share what has worked here to help you get the best results possible.

Every hatching egg order includes a simple hatching guide to help you get started.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Here are a few things people often ask before ordering.

Can I choose a specific line?

Yes, as long as it’s listed as available in the dropdown. What you see on the form is what I’m currently able to sell.

Can I order more than one line in the same order?

Yes. Add one line to your cart, then return to this page and add another. Repeat as needed.

How long can I store hatching eggs before setting them?

Set them within 7 days if possible. The sooner, the better. Store them pointy-end down around 50–60°F. If you’re holding them longer than two days, gently turn them once or twice a day.

Do you guarantee hatch rates or fertility?

I don’t guarantee hatch rates once eggs leave the farm because incubators, storage, and handling vary so much. On the farm, fertile eggs from my breeding pens average a 90–100% hatch rate. Your results will depend on your setup.

Are hatching eggs washed or refrigerated?

No. Hatching eggs are unwashed and handled specifically for incubation. Eggs sold for eating are washed and refrigerated, which is why farm stand eggs should not be used for hatching.

How does pickup work?

Pickup is by appointment at the farm. Forget-Me-Not Quail Farm is located at 114 Wilton Warren Road in Fryeburg, Maine. After checkout, I’ll email you to coordinate a pickup window.
