Live Coturnix Quail for Sale in Maine
If you’re looking to start a covey or add fresh genetics to one you already have, I raise Coturnix quail here on my western Maine homestead. These are birds I’m proud to keep myself and confident sending home with others.
Most of what I offer are day-old chicks, hatched in small batches throughout the season. Occasionally, I may also have a limited number of mature quail available, depending on what I keep back for my own breeding programs.
All live bird pickups are by appointment only. I’m always happy to help you decide what makes the most sense for your setup, space, and goals.
Day-Old Chicks
Most of my birds are sold as day-old chicks.
Chicks are sold straight run, which means they are unsexed. They are offered only after hatch is complete and final counts are confirmed. Because hatch results can vary, I don’t promise chicks before they’re out of the incubator and doing well.
When chicks are available, I send an email with confirmed counts, lines, pricing, and pickup details.
All the details on pricing, deposits, hatch updates, and pickup timing are on the Day-Old Chicks page.
Mature Quail
Occasionally, I have a small number of mature Coturnix quail available. These birds are fully feathered, sexed, and ready to lay or breed.
Mature birds are limited because most are retained here for my own breeding programs, so they aren’t something I can promise regularly.

Our 2026 Lines & Collections
All of my birds come from lines I’ve worked with and trust. Some lines breed true, and others are managed as collections for variety and genetic diversity. Every line is selected with health, size, productivity, and calmer temperaments in mind.
- Andalusian: Andalusian is a gray dilution that can range from light silver to deeper charcoal. Many birds have white wingtips and patches of base color showing through. I do not breed Andalusian to Andalusian, so about half the chicks are expected to show gray tones and the other half will be undiluted.
- Sparkly Pansy Pearl: Sparkly Pansy Pearl is built on a Pearl base with added Sparkly barring and bold Pansy contrast. This line is still being refined, but the goal is a high-pattern, high-contrast bird with plenty of visual interest. Some chicks may show Pearl or Pansy Fee variations, with or without Sparkly, as I continue selecting toward full expression.
- Calico Collection: The Calico Collection has cream-to-yellow striations along the back, softer overall patterning, and reduced breast spotting on females. All birds in this collection are homozygous Calico, so every chick carries the full visible pattern.
- True Black: True Black birds have deep, uniform black plumage that is darker than Tibetan, with very little white bleed-through as adults. This line breeds true and is a good fit if you want bold, consistent solid black birds.
- Celadon Collection: The Celadon Collection includes a variety of feather colors, but every hen lays light blue celadon eggs ranging from pale blue to deeper robin’s-egg tones. All birds are homozygous for the Celadon gene, so blue egg color is consistent across the line.
- Splash Collection: The Splash Collection is made up of mostly white birds with irregular patches of color. The exact patch color depends on the base color underneath. My Splash birds are homozygous and breed true, so that high-contrast patchy look is consistent in every hatch.

Hatch Schedule & Availability
I hatch Coturnix quail throughout the season, usually from spring through early fall.
Because every hatch is a little different, I don’t maintain a traditional waitlist or promise birds before hatch. Instead, availability is handled through email updates. Here’s how it works:
- I send a heads-up email when a hatch is coming up and share which lines are planned.
- After hatch, I send a follow-up email with confirmed availability and instructions for claiming chicks.
For current hatch plans and signup options, visit the Day-Old Chicks page.
